Giants Climb WCBL Beanstalk With Huge Canada Day Weekend

The Fort McMurray Giants are starting to roll.

The Giants won three of four over the weekend against the Brooks Bandits – improving their record to 13-14 on the season – good for 4th place in their division.

Head Coach Ray Brown tells Mix News it was a solid weekend for his squad.

“Even the game we lost 3-1, we had our chances. Unfortunately, we failed to get the big hit when we had the guys on base. But I thought taking three of four and getting us one game back of .500, I think it shows we’re doing quite well.”

With the weekend in the rear-view, the Giants have now won six of their last eight.

Brown says after the early season struggles, he feels they now have the right players in place to be successful.

“We started the season with 34 players and now we are down to 27. And those guys we have now are the ones we feel will give us a good shot to win this thing.”

The Giants get set to host Moose Jaw tomorrow at Shell Place, with first pitch after 7 p.m.
