Giants Slide Back Two Games Under-500 With Series Loss To Moose Jaw

The Fort McMurray Giants will be looking to bounce back from a tough series loss to the Moose Jaw Miller Express.

The G-Men fell in two-of-three games over the weekend – including an 11-10 loss on Saturday – dropping their record to 14-16 on the season.

Head Coach Ray Brown tells Mix News it was a disappointing effort from his squad, particularly from the pitching staff.

“It’s pretty hard to win when your pitchers walk 10 or 11 guys in a game and give the other team the runs they need to win. We need to pitch better, that’s the bottom line. We can’t walk that many batters.”

Brown calls Saturday’s loss inexcusable.

He says his message to his squad is to stay focused on the task at hand.

“Don’t take your foot off the pedal. On Saturday, we scored 3, then 6, then zero, zero, zero, zero and then we finally got one and it was not enough. Moose Jaw was out of pitching and we just didn’t stay aggressive at the plate and we didn’t add to our lead.”

The Giants take on the Melville Millionaires Tuesday at Shell Place – with first pitch after 7 p.m.
