Remillard, Alberta Come Away With Bronze At 2019 Football Canada Cup

A Fort McMurray football star continues to rise and shine.

Father Mercredi Trapper Dylan Remillard took part in the 2019 Football Canada Cup in Ontario last week – where Alberta was able to come out with a bronze medal.

The Albertans fell to Quebec in the semi-final before eventually topping the host province 22-21 to finish 3rd.

Remillard tells Mix News while bronze is nice, he’ll have his sights set on the top prize in 2020.

“It’s a pretty sweet experience considering all the work my teammates and I put in to buy in all together on such short notice. It’s pretty amazing,” Remillard said. “I am just going to try and keep myself in shape and try and bring a championship home next year.”

The defensive linesman adds it was a tough test playing against some of the best high school players in Canada.

That being said, he notes it was a great stage for him to prove his abilities on the gridiron.

“It’s really nice to showcase yourself on a level like that where you have a bunch of university coaches and top players from each province across the nation. So, it’s really cool to get yourself out there, meet people and get that new experience.”

Remillard’s advice to younger, local talent is to keep school prioritized, keep your grades up and focus on physical conditioning as much as possible.
