On July 9, ITU members set up a traffic check stop on Highway 881.

Around 10:30 p.m., a vehicle attempted to evade the check stop by turning around and fleeing.

Officer attempted to catch the driver, however, they stopped after the vehicle was going too fast, posing a threat to public safety.

It was later found and after a search of the area, a 27-year-old man from Fort Saskatchewan was arrested.

He’s since been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, flight from a peace officer, taking a motor vehicle without consent, and two counts of operating a motor vehicle while criminally suspended.

Meanwhile, on July 11, around 3:45 p.m., an off-duty police officer pulled over a vehicle after it was driving erratically in downtown.

The 56-year-old driver was arrested and later provided breath samples which were almost four times the legal limit.

He’s since been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

Later that day, around 11:50 p.m., ITU members pulled over a 43-year-old man after he was caught going more than 170 km/h on Highway 63.

The driver also showed signs of being intoxicated and was later arrested and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

The names of each can’t be released before an official swearing of Information.

The three were released and are scheduled to make their first court appearances between August 21 – 28.
