Communities In Bloom Judges Visiting Region For International Competition

You’re being asked to tidy up your property before Community in Bloom judges tour the region at the end of the month.

Wood Buffalo is competing in the International Challenge Large Category against five different cities – Barrie, Ontario, Coquitlam B.C., Halesowen, UK, Lexington, Kentucky, and Székesfehérvár, Hungary.

CIB encourages communities to enhance the visual appeal of neighbourhoods, public spaces, and parks through the use of flowers, plants, trees, and landscaping.

Places can receive a 1 to 5 blooms rating and will aim to obtain Bronze, Silver or Gold levels.

Winners are scheduled to be announced in September during the Symposium and Awards Ceremonies in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.

Next year Fort McMurray will host this event, which coincides with the 20th anniversary of the municipality’s involvement with Communities in Bloom program.

The two judges will be in Wood Buffalo from July 29 – August 1.
