Giants On Outside Looking In Entering Final Stretch

The Fort McMurray Giants will look to rebound from a tough weekend.

The G-Men have lost four straight games following a series sweep at the hands of the Regina Red Sox – which puts them at 20-22 for the campaign.

Manager Ray Brown tells Mix News with 14 games remaining and his team on the outside looking in – this final stretch will be vital to earning a playoff spot.

“So, those 14 games we control our own destiny. It’s up to us to make sure we get it done and tweak the little mistakes we’ve made so when the season’s over, we’re one of those four teams in the playoffs.”

Entering Tuesday’s series with the Lethbridge Bulls, the Giants sit tied for fourth in their division.

Despite that, Brown believes this team has what it takes to close out the season strong.

He feels when his team gets hot they have the potential to be the best team in the WCBL.

“We’ve got to become more consistent. We can’t just do it three or four games at a time. If we go to the championship series, we will have to play around 20 more games, so for that amount of time – we have to play like the team that we are which is a championship calibre team.”

The Giants open a four-game series with Lethbridge Tuesday at Shell Place.

First pitch is after 7 p.m.
