The RMWB is receiving a bronze rating from Communities in Bloom.
CIB is a non-profit organization committed to fostering civic pride, environmental responsibility, and beautification through community involvement.
They held their award ceremony on Saturday in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia where they announced this year’s winners.
During the summer, judges visited the region where they went to different landmarks across Wood Buffalo.
The RMWB was competing in the International Challenge Large Category against five different cities – Barrie, Ontario, Coquitlam B.C., Halesowen, UK, Lexington, Kentucky, and Székesfehérvár, Hungary.
The judges ended up choosing Coquitlam noting their gardens, walking systems, and public parks.
Last year, Wood Buffalo received a silver rating from CIB.
Moving forward, the RMWB will be hosting the award ceremony in 2020 coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the municipality’s involvement with the Communities in Bloom program.
