A local artist is giving some of her work to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 165.
On Saturday, members of the Legion received a number of different pieces from Andrea Brasch – an artist who creates nature inspired multi-dimensional artworks.
The donated pieces focus around an aquatic theme and blends ceramics with Brasch’s knowledge of fused glass.
Legion President Pat Duggan tells Mix News they’ve never received a donation this unique.
“We’ve had paintings donated previously and also quilts and such which we’ve auctioned off and been able to use for operating costs and different projects we have going on around the Legion, but not to this size of extent – so this is very significant.”
The art will be auctioned off through silent auctions and sold by donations at various events. One piece will also be put up at the Legion.
Duggan says they’re hoping to raise around $1,000 which will go towards renovations for their front entrance.
“Which is also going to be expanding our accessibility for wheelchairs, make it a bit easier, as well we’re going to siphon a little bit of that for a project out front, finishing off our naval and air force displays.”
