A holiday campaign is reminding Albertans to avoid impaired driving.
The liquor bag campaign was launched Friday, getting youth in the province to create motivating and imaginative messages to remind of the dangers of drinking and driving.
Since 2012, Students Against Drunk Driving and Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis have spearheaded the campaign.
Students in grades 1-12 can now personalize a message on a paper liquor bag to raise awareness on the impact of impaired driving.
Teachers in the province and community supporters are encouraged to order free liquor paper bags – which will serve as a blank canvas for students’ design until December 15.
The finished products will be given to local liquor stores by school staff as a visual reminder to customers to not drink and drive over the holidays.
In 2019, more than 77,000 bags were ordered and distributed to 386 Alberta schools.
Students are also encouraged to share their bag design on Instagram using the hashtag #SADDbag.
