Municipality Transitioning Funds To Expand Counselling Services For Wood Buffalo

The municipality is looking to increase the amount of counselling services available across Wood Buffalo.

They announced last week they’re transitioning its Family and Community Support Services funding to Waypoints and the Legacy Counselling Centre.

The RMWB is hoping this will increase the capacity for counselling in Fort McMurray and the rural communities.

“The FCSS funding will ensure our counselling programs have an even broader reach than before, and we are thrilled to be able to expand our counselling services,” said Michele Taylor, Executive Director of Waypoints, in a release.

The funds will be distributed to the two organizations starting in 2020.

The municipality plans on working with each to ensure a smooth transition for existing and future clients.

“We are pleased to receive the FCSS funding through the Community Investment Program, and look forward to seeing the positive impact this change in service has on the community,” said Del Bouck, Spokesperson for Legacy Counselling Centre’s Board of Directors.
