Salvation Army Falls Short of Kettle Campaign Goal By $40K

The Salvation Army of Fort McMurray fell well short of their goal for their 2019 Christmas Kettle Campaign.

The organization was hoping to raise $200,000, however, they were only able to get around $160,000.

“It is disappointing we didn’t meet our goal at this time,” said Major Stephen Hibbs, in a release. “However, given a week ago we were only at the half way point, our community rallied and we raised another $60,000 in one week.”

The funds raised will be used to maintain the Salvation Army’s programs and services such as hot meals, shelter and housing services, job programs, and clothing.

To help raise a little bit more money, they will be collecting donations online until the end of the year.

Meanwhile, the Salvation Army says their volunteers accumulated over 7,800 volunteer hours over the five-week campaign.

“We would like to thank every person who made a kettle donation or donated their time by becoming a kettle volunteer,” added Hibbs.
