Wood Buffalo RCMP say one of the drivers involved in Tuesday’s collision on Highway 63 has died. 

Police say a northbound pickup truck entered the southbound lane of Highway 63 near Suncor’s north access gate at Mildred Lake and collided with a tractor-trailer unit. The pickup truck driver died in hospital, while the other driver was not physically injured. 

The highway was closed for much of the day before re-opening in the evening. 

RCMP are continuing to investigate, but they say they believe alcohol was a factor in the collision.
