Seven wildfires spark near Firebag River

A pocket of seven wildfires near the Firebag River has popped up, according to Alberta Wildfire. 

Three of those fires are considered out of control, while the rest are being held. 

These fires are being managed under the Firebag Complex. There are currently eight firefighting crews, nine helicopters, three pieces of heavy equipment, and four overhead staff working on this fire, with more resources are expected to respond to the fire shortly. 

The wildfire danger remains very high in the Fort McMurray Forest Area. 

There are a total of 21 active wildfires in the Fort McMurray Forest Area, with only three out-of-control fires in the Firebag Complex area. There are 12 wildfires ‘being held,’ while another six are considered under control.
