Fort McMurray’s Arts Hub Nears Reality—But Support Needed

FORT MCMURRAY, Alberta — The design of Fort McMurray’s much-anticipated Arts Inc. creative hub downtown has been finalized, marking a significant milestone in the project. GEC Architecture completed the design for the Arts Inc. space, which will transform the old Landmark Cinemas building downtown into a vibrant center for creativity, cultural expression, and economic development.

The next step in bringing the Arts Inc. project to life will be selecting a contractor for construction. The Arts Council of Wood Buffalo, the force behind the initiative, is inviting qualified contractors to submit bids for the $16 million development. While the project has been largely funded by grants, the Arts Council still needs an additional $3 million to bring it to completion.

Earlier this month, the Arts Council launched the INCredible! campaign, seeking donations from businesses, families, and individuals to support the final phase of the project. Once completed, Arts Inc. will serve as a vital hub for the region’s arts and culture community.
