Wahkohtowin Sports Circle Launches 2024 Campaign to Support Indigenous Youth in Wood Buffalo

FORT MCMURRAY, Alberta — Parker and Cruze Flett, founders of the Wahkohtowin Sports Circle, have launched their 2024 Game Changer Campaign to support Indigenous youth in Wood Buffalo. Formerly known as The Fort Mac Hockey Bros, the brothers aim to provide new sports gear and opportunities for rural Indigenous children to participate in any sport of their choice.

Through the campaign, the Fletts hope to ensure that no child is left out of sports while also promoting Indigenous cultural identity and teachings. The Wahkohtowin mission, which emphasizes interconnectedness and kinship, seeks to break down barriers facing Indigenous youth in the region.

The brothers expressed their gratitude for the ongoing support from the local business community, which has been vital to their efforts. With continued backing, Parker and Cruze plan to expand their impact in the Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo area, helping Indigenous children grow, learn, and stay healthy.
