Wood Buffalo RCMP to Release Details on Downtown Incident

FORT MCMURRAY, AB – The Wood Buffalo RCMP have confirmed their response to an incident in the downtown today.  A heavy police presence and officers with drawn firearms were observed in a parking lot near Hardin Street and Franklin Avenue. Witnesses reported seeing multiple officers approach a stopped vehicle with weapons aimed, sparking interest on social media.

RCMP spokesperson Staff Sergeant Sabrina Clayton tells Harvard Media News there was no danger to the public during the operation. While details remain limited, S/Sgt. Clayton confirmed that an incident did take place and that a full media release with further information will be issued as soon as possible.
