Our city council meetings might not usually be edge-of-your-seat stuff, but this week, they pulled off something genuinely awesome. They unanimously approved a new skate park for Gregoire, and the coolest part? The idea was pitched by a group of Grade 5 and 6 students from Greely Road School!
Hats off to these kids! At their age, I was just hoping not to embarrass myself with a voice crack in front of my crush. But here they are, getting projects approved and changing the landscape of Fort Mac!
Think about it – we’re getting a skate park now, we can build backyard skating rinks, and we even have a go-kart track in the summer! When I first moved here, the biggest thrill was hoping someone would finally open a bowling alley. Fort Mac is growing, and it’s all thanks to voices—sometimes squeaky ones—that make a difference.
