Hello, I’m John! Welcome to my Diary as I describe what is going through my mind as Marina and I go head to head with Christmas songs!
Day 1: Marina-Christmas Eve Sarajevo (Trans Siberian Orchestra) VS John-All I want for Christmas is you (Mariah Carey)
Marina won today with a 4 minute long song that doesn’t have any lyrics. Not only that, but she beat what I think is the greatest Christmas song of all time. That’s fine though because tomorrow I got ANOTHER banger coming!
Day 2: Marina-I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas (Gayla Peevey) VS John-Feliz Navidad (José Feliciano)
Marina won again… I don’t even know what’s happening. A song sung by a 10 year old about a friggin hippo BEAT FELIZ NAVIDAD?! I’d like to say I have another banger coming but at this point I don’t even know. See you tomorrow.
Day 3: Marina-Jingle Bell Rock (Bobby Helms) VS John-Dominick the Donkey (Lou Monte)
A Threepeat?! REALLY?! A THREEPEAT?! I’m starting to think people don’t actually care about the music and only see what I pick and choose the opposite. I get it. It was a song about a Donkey. But I thought it would have been so ridiculous that people would have been like “sure why not.” NOPE. I have NO expectations for tomorrow.
Day 4: Marina-You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch (Thurl Ravenscroft) VS John-Santa Tell Me (Ariana Grande)
Thurl Ravenscroft? More like… Thurl bad name and stupid song. Marina won again. I fully expect her to go for the sweep which is why I’m brining the biggest of the big guns tomorrow.
Day 5: Marina-It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas (Michael Bublé) VS John-Santa Claus Is Coming To Town (Bruce Springsteen)
She got the sweep on the week and beat the Boss. I didn’t even know that was possible. I think it’ll be more impressive if I somehow lose every single one than if she wins. See you Monday.
Day 6: Marina-Frosty The Snowman (Gene Autry) VS John-What Christmas Means To Me (John Legend)
I lost. Are you shocked? I am not. Onto tomorrow I guess.
Day 7: Marina-Mistletoe (Justin Bieber) VS John-Step Into Christmas (Elton John)
I WON!!! THAT’S RIGHT! I WON!!! I do have to come clean. I had never heard Step into Christmas before. I decided to play my cards with the older generation and through Elton John at them and it worked!!!
