Canadian Officials Seize 189 Kilograms of Cocaine at US-Alberta Border
Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers seized a massive shipment of cocaine heading across the US-Alberta border. Officers at the Coutts border crossing conducted a secondary examination of a commercial truck heading into Canada on November 13. The 189 kg of cocaine has an estimated wholesale value of $2 million. The bust came through the joint effort of CBSA and the Integrated Border Enforcement Team (IBET) in Alberta.
Superintendent Sean Boser, Officer in Charge of Federal Serious Organized Crime and Border Integrity for the RCMP, praised the collaboration between agencies in preventing the drugs from entering Canada. “The safety and security of Canadians is the RCMP Federal Policing Northwest Region’s top priority, Boser said. “With the support of various law enforcement agencies, we’ve successfully prevented harmful drugs from entering Canada and harming our communities.”
Ben Tame, Director of the CBSA’s Southern Alberta and Southern Saskatchewan District, commended the officers involved in the seizure. “This significant seizure serves as another example of how Canada’s borders are being secured and drugs are kept off our streets,” Tame said.
The criminal investigation into the seizure is ongoing, with all partner agencies actively engaged in the case.
