Some things in the world are clearly good, and some are clearly evil, but glitter pickles seem to blur the lines between the two.
This year, food videos on social media have been flooded with pickle content, from colorful chamoy pickles to fried pickle dip. Brands have followed suit, with Pringles reintroducing dill pickle flavor and Goldfish launching a spicy dill snack.
However, the latest trend—glitter pickles—raises some eyebrows. These jars filled with pickles and shimmering edible glitter have gained millions of views online, especially on TikTok. Videos often feature glitter being added to pickles while an eerie voice says, “pretty pickles,” and fans have humorously commented on being “haunted” by them.
To create these “glickles,” you only need pickles and edible glitter. Any type of pickle works, but ridged varieties may hold glitter better. It’s crucial to use edible glitter, easily found online, as regular glitter is not safe for consumption.
Glickles might have surged in popularity during the holiday season, making for festive snacks at parties. They could be served as finger foods or used to garnish drinks. While standard cucumber pickles have dominated the trend, there’s potential for creativity—think glitter-covered pickled carrots or cauliflower.
While the longevity of the glitter pickle trend is uncertain, it’s a fun addition to the realm of social media trends, and I’m all for anything that encourages more pickle consumption. Expect more pickle innovations to emerge in the future! Check out this video that has gone viral!
