Olivia and Noah Reign Again as Alberta’s Top Baby Names in 2024As 2025 rolls in, Alberta’s baby name trends from 2024 remain strikingly familiar, with the top name for boys and girls staying the same for the sixth consecutive year. Olivia, who has held the top position for a record-breaking 12 years, continues to be the most popular name for baby girls, while Noah continues to be the top choice among baby boys.Charlotte, Amelia, Sophia, and Emma, round out the top five names for baby girls last year, while the top names for boys include Oliver, Liam, Theodore, and Henry. Alberta saw more than 50,000 births registered last year alone, reflecting Alberta’s young and rapidly growing population. According to Statistics Canada, Alberta remains the youngest province in Canada, with an average age of just 39.1 years.“Congratulations to all those who welcomed a child in 2024,” said Dale Nally, Minister for Service Alberta.The 2024 list further highlights some unique and nature-inspired names that reflect the province’s deep cultural roots. New names like Cedar, Hope, and Prairie nod to Alberta’s natural beauty, while others, including Bear, Fox, Jaguar, and Sora, take inspiration from animals. Celestial names like Cassiopeia, Andromeda, and Orion are inspired by the night sky.Parents also embraced names that express joy and positivity, such as Serenity, Hope, Heavenly, Blessing, and Bliss. Meanwhile, names with a bit of flair for adventure included Rowdy, Shooter, and Stryder.“Let’s also celebrate the families who have chosen to build their futures in Alberta. By prioritizing policies that strengthen families, protect traditional values, and celebrate our shared heritage, we can ensure that Alberta remains the best place to raise a family for generations to come,” Nally added.
