It’s your boy Jake Ryan here, and we’ve got some new flicks hitting the big screen this week!
“Companion” (R, Sci-Fi/Thriller)
So, picture this: a billionaire drops dead, and BAM, Iris and her crew are thrown into a wild ride at his lakeside estate. Think tension, twists, and a whole lotta drama. Can’t go wrong with a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes—this one’s got the goods. If you like suspense and a dash of “Who’s gonna die next?” vibes, this is your jam. Featuring Sophie Thatcher, Harvey Guillén, and Jack Quaid, who are basically making this a thriller worth your time. If you’re into mind-bending sci-fi, strap in!
“Dog Man” (PG, Animation/Adventure)
Alright, here’s the pitch: Police dog meets police officer in a freak accident… and BOOM, Dog Man is born. This is like if a superhero movie and a cartoon had a baby. You get Pete Davidson as the voice of the canine crusader, Isla Fisher, and Poppy Liu in the mix, and I can already tell we’re in for some wacky fun. No Tomatometer yet, but it’s gonna be a ride. Perfect for the kids—or if you’re like me and still find talking dogs hilarious. Side note: Petey the Cat sounds like the villain we never knew we needed.
“Valiant One” (R, Action/Drama)
Helicopter crashes in North Korea, and now a ragtag group of survivors, including a tech whiz, has to figure out how to escape. The catch? No military backup. A tense, action-packed drama starring Chase Stokes, Lana Condor, and Desmin Borges, and trust me—when North Korea gets involved, things are gonna get explosive. If you’re into edge-of-your-seat action, this one’s gotta be on your radar.
So there you have it—three fresh picks to give your weekend plans a boost! If I’m being honest, I’m probably leaning toward Dog Man—there’s something about talking animals that just gets me every time. Anyway, hit me up if you see any of these!
