Winter Maintenance Zones 1 and 2 Active for Snow Removal February 10-14
The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) is activating Winter Maintenance Zones (WMZ) 1 and 2 this week. From February 10 to 14 municipal crews will be out conducting snow removal operations in Sub-zones 1 and 2. On-street parking restrictions will be in effect on scheduled maintenance days, and residents are reminded to check their subzone for specific timing. Subzones 3 and 4 will be relaxed this week, meaning no parking restrictions will be enforced in those areas.
The RMWB is asking for patience during snow removal, as it takes longer than standard snow plowing. Some streets in active subzones may not be completed in the first activation cycle but will be tracked and scheduled for future maintenance. Residents can locate their subzone and schedule maintenance day via on-street signage, or by visiting rmwb.ca/WMZ.
Crews are also clearing and removing snow from primary, secondary, and tertiary streets, including school zones. Temporary no-parking signs will be placed 24 hours in advance on affected streets. Once signage is in place, on-street parking restrictions will remain in effect until the signs are removed. Residents are reminded to move their vehicles promptly to avoid delays in snow clearing.
The RMWB will be focusing their work on Cardinal Drive, Tundra Drive, Eymundson Road, Wolverine Drive, Morrison Street, Abasand Drive, Athabasca Avenue, Gregoire Drive, and Greely Road
