Reckless Driver Leaves Two Injured in Wood Buffalo Hit-and-Run

RCMP Seek Witnesses After Hit-and-Run Injures Two Pedestrians in Wood Buffalo

FORT MCMURRAY — Police are searching for the driver of a black or dark-coloured GMC or Chevy pickup truck after a hit-and-run that sent two pedestrians to hospital.

Wood Buffalo RCMP say the incident happened around 6:20 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Thickwood Boulevard and Ross Haven Drive. Witnesses reported seeing the truck turn onto Ross Haven Drive and accelerate into the turn, causing it to drift or fishtail and then strike two pedestrians in the intersection.

The vehicle stopped briefly before fleeing onto Ross Haven at a high rate of speed. The pedestrians were taken to the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre with non-life-threatening injuries.

RCMP are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam or surveillance footage to contact the Wood Buffalo RCMP or phone Crime Stoppers.
