Fort McMurray Residents Face Charges in Fleet Gas Card Fraud Case

FORT MCMURRAY, AB. – Two Fort McMurray residents are facing multiple charges following a months-long investigation into the alleged fraudulent use of stolen fleet gas cards.

The Wood Buffalo RCMP launched the investigation last October after receiving a complaint about unauthorized transactions made using stolen fleet gas cards. The General Duty and Criminal Intelligence Units uncovered a series of fraudulent transactions spanning from Fort McMurray to Edmonton, occurring between July 2024 and January 2025.

On January 31, 2025, 37-year-old Mandy Gauvreau was arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime, obtaining a credit card by fraud, and possession of a controlled substance. Gauvreau was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on March 5.

A second individual, 38-year-old Dustin McClure, was arrested on February 7 as part of the same investigation. McClure faces charges of fraud, possession of property obtained by crime, and five counts of failure to comply with release conditions. He remains in custody and is set to appear in court on February 24.

The Wood Buffalo RCMP says the total loss due to the alleged fraud exceeds $100,000 and affects multiple companies in and around Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo.
