Two Men Dead in Apparent Carbon Monoxide Poisoning During Ice-Fishing Trip Near Fort McMurray
FORT MCMURRAY, AB. — Two men are dead following an ice-fishing trip to Crow Lake Provincial Park, approximately 130 kilometres south of Fort McMurray. On Saturday, Boyle RCMP, with assistance from Lac La Biche Emergency Services and Fort McMurray Fish and Wildlife, responded to a report of two individuals found unresponsive in an ice-fishing tent in a remote area of the park.
The victims, a 45-year-old man from Fort McMurray and a 37-year-old man from Labrador City, Newfoundland, were pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest the deaths were caused by carbon monoxide poisoning, likely from a heating unit inside the ice-fishing shack. Autopsies are scheduled to confirm the cause of death.
