Suncor CEO Rich Kruger Named Canadian Business Leader of the Year by Canadian Chamber of Commerce
CALGARY — Rich Kruger, President and CEO of Suncor Energy, has been named the Canadian Business Leader of the Year by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. The prestigious honour recognizes Kruger’s transformative leadership since taking the helm of the Calgary-based energy giant in April 2023.
Under Kruger’s leadership, Suncor has seen significant gains in both safety and operational excellence, driving the company’s share price from the low $40s in April 2023 to, at times, over $58 per share. Although recent market fluctuations caused by uncertainty surrounding U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariff policies, Suncor’s stock has dropped to around $50 per share.
The Canadian Chamber of Commerce will present Kruger with the award at a ceremony in Calgary on September 11.
