The La Loche winter trail is closed for the year due to consistent warm temperatures.

The RMWB says road conditions have deteriorated beyond repair this late in the year.

The RM reminds drivers of the dangers of driving on the winter trail when it is closed, adding that those caught driving on the winter trail while it is closed can face serious fines and put themselves and others at risk of a major incident.

Earlier this week, the weight limit on the Fort Chipewyan winter road was adjusted due to warm temperatures. Vehicles up to 45,000 kilograms can use the road between 10 PM and 10 AM each night, while vehicles up to 5,000 kilograms can use it during the day between 10 AM and 10 PM.
