Former Edmonton High School Teacher Charged with Child Sex Offenses*
EDMONTON — A former high school teacher in Edmonton has been charged with multiple child sex offenses following an investigation by the Edmonton Police Service (EPS).
On Mach 6, EPS arrested 32-year-old Dylan James Shott, charging him with luring a child, sexual assault, invitation to sexual touching, and sexual interference. Shott previously taught at M.E. LaZerte High School in northeast Edmonton.
The charges stem from allegations made to EPS on February 8th by a female youth. She says Shott had sexually assaulted her multiple times between February 2024 and January 2025. Police confirmed that while Shott was actively teaching at the time of the alleged assaults, but the victim was not a student at the school.
Shott has been released with strict conditions, including a prohibition on contact with anyone under 16, restrictions from attending schools, playgrounds, youth shelters, public libraries, and swimming areas, and a ban on using dating sites.
