FORT MCMURRAY — As we near the end of the first week of the Federal Election Campaign, the New Democratic Party has named You-Ju Choi as its candidate for Member of Parliament in Fort McMurray–Cold Lake, though the party has yet to release any background information on Choi.
Incumbent Conservative MP Laila Goodridge officially filed her paperwork with Elections Canada on Tuesday, seeking a second term in office. The People’s Party of Canada is running Alan Clarke from Morinville,a hamlet just north of Edmonton.
The Liberal Party of Canada does not appear to have selected a candidate to run in Fort McMurray – Cold Lake. Despite multiple requests for information from Harvard Media News, the party has not responded to our request for information on their selection for the region.
Voting in the federal election is scheduled for April 28.
To date, the CPC has nominated candidates in all 37 Alberta ridings, followed by the People’s Party with 34, the NDP with 30, and the Liberals with 20. Other parties on the ballot include the Greens Party with 15 candidates so far, the Communist Party with five candidates, the Christian Heritage Party with four, and the Marxist-Leninist Party which are running one person in the riding of Calgary – Confederation.
