Winter Maintenance Zones winding down for the season in Wood Buffalo
FORT McMURRAY, AB. — Winter Maintenance Zone (WMZ) work across the region is winding down for the season. The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo announced that all subzones are relaxed until further notice.
That means no seasonal on-street parking restrictions will be in effect this week, offering residents a bit of breathing room as spring weather settles in. However, since the official WMZ season doesn’t end until April 15, the municipality is still suggesting people to keep an eye out for any last-minute changes.
The Tower Road Snow Storage Facility is also set to close for the season on Tuesday, April 15 at 7 p.m. Residents have just over a week left to complete any final snow removal or disposal at the site.
Municipal crews will continue to monitor conditions as snow melts, with a focus now shifting toward managing potential street flooding and ensuring storm drains remain clear.
