Alberta Wildland Firefighter Morgan Kitchen Memorialized with $1,000 Scholarship
A new scholarship has been established in honor of Morgan Kitchen, an Alberta wildland firefighter who tragically lost his life in the line of duty. Kitchen, 24, died last summer while battling wildfires near the fire-ravaged town of Jasper. A Calgary resident based out of Alberta Wildfire’s Rocky Fire Base, Kitchen also volunteered as a firefighter in Beiseker, a community located just outside Calgary.
This week, the Beiseker Fire Department announced a $1,000 annual scholarship in his name, aimed at supporting the next generation of firefighters. The award will be administered by Lakeland College and will assist students enrolled in the college’s Firefighter Training or Emergency Services Technology programs.
