Arts Inc. Project Receives Major Boost from Local Business

Arts Hub Project in Fort McMurray Receives $50,000 Boost from Birch Mountain Enterprises

FORT MCMURRAY, Alberta— The Arts Council of Wood Buffalo received a major contribution to its Arts Inc. project this week. Birch Mountain Enterprises (BME) has donated $50,000 toward the development of a $16 million arts hub in downtown Fort McMurray. The project will transform the old Landmark Cinema building into a dynamic center for arts and culture and a hub for creatives set in the heart of Fort McMurray.

The Arts Council will be recognizing Birch Mountain as an Arts Innovator by giving them a special acknowledgment in the planned Arts Inc. Adaptable Space. Chris Wilson, CEO and Managing Partner of Birch Mountain, spoke of BME’s commitment to the community. “The vision and goals of Arts INC align closely with our values,” said Wilson. “We are excited to contribute to the success of Arts INC and support its development and future growth.”

Liana Wheeldon, Executive Director of Arts Council Wood Buffalo, expressed gratitude for BME’s support, noting that it speaks to BME’s commitment to cultural expression and community development.

With facility designs and construction plans finalized, the Arts Inc. project is set to break ground soon. The Arts Council is still raising funds, with $3 million needed to reach the campaign goal through its ongoing INCredible campaign.
