Fort McMurray Man Dies in Head-On Collision Near Redwater: RCMP Seek Witnesses

REDWATER, Alta. — A 68-year-old man from Fort McMurray is dead following a head-on collision between a car and a tractor-trailer on Highway 63 near Redwater last week.

On January 31, at approximately 11 a.m., Redwater RCMP responded to a crash on Highway 63 near Township 632. Police say the car, driven by the 68-year-old man, struck the semi head-on. Emergency responders from Redwater, Thorhild, and Alberta Health Services attended the scene, but the driver and sole occupant of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

RCMP are now asking for the public’s help in reconstructing the events leading up to the collision. Investigators are seeking witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage of the incident to contact the Redwater or Wood Buffalo RCMP detachments.
