RCMP Release Surveillance Images in Thickwood Hit-and-Run Investigation

FORT MCMURRAY, AB. — Wood Buffalo RCMP are asking for the public’s help in identifying a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run that injured two pedestrians Monday evening.

Police say the incident occurred around 6:20 p.m. at the intersection of Thickwood Boulevard and Ross Haven Drive. Witnesses say a black or dark-coloured half-ton truck, possibly a GMC or Chevy, was turning from Thickwood Boulevard onto Ross Haven Drive. They say the truck accelerated into the turn causing it to fishtail and strike two pedestrians. The truck stopped briefly before fleeing the scene at high speed.

The victims were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators have obtained images of the suspect vehicle, which they are sharing with the public. Anyone who recognizes the truck or has information about the incident is urged to contact Wood Buffalo RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
