Recreational Boaters Encouraged To Stay Off Gregoire Lake While Forestry Fights Wildfire

The RMWB is encouraging recreational boaters to stay off Gregoire Lake as Alberta Forestry airtankers and helicopters are actively skimming the water to help fight a wildfire in the region.

The out of control blaze, which is located approximately 37 km south-southwest of Anzac, has grown to roughly 1945 hectares.

The province says most of the growth on Tuesday was towards the east and as a result of ignition operations conducted by firefighters.

Alberta Forestry dozer units are continuing to cut breaks with Forestry ground crews on site holding the fire.

There is currently no threat to any communities, according to Alberta Wildfire.

The RWMB says its RES Emergency Management has gone to a level of Enhance Monitoring focusing on situational awareness and readiness.

An update by the municipality is expected at noon on Wednesday.
