One Person Seriously Injured Following Downtown Shooting

One person has been seriously injured following a shooting in downtown Fort McMurray over the weekend.

Around 12:40 a.m. Sunday, Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of Biggs Avenue and Hardin Street.

When officers arrived on scene they found the man with gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital by EMS before being airlifted to Edmonton.

RCMP say they don’t know at this point if this was a random or targeted attack.

Anyone with information on the incident or may have been in the area around this time is asked to call police at 780-788-4000 or Crime Stoppers.

Police continue to investigate.
