Handgun Seized During Drug Bust, Warrant Issued For Three People For Suspected Involvement

A loaded handgun is being seized after a drug bust in Fort McMurray.

ALERT’s Fort McMurray organized crime and gang team searched two Timberlea apartments on July 11, where they found the gun with its serial number filed off.

They also seized 311 grams of MDMA powder, 116 grams of cocaine, and nearly $16,000 in cash.

“Taking a handgun off the street provides an indisputable benefit to public safety. The drug trade is inherently violent and it is the community that pays that toll,” said Inspector Sean Boser, ALERT, in a release.

As a result, 30-year-old James Brian Taylor was arrested during a traffic stop.

He’s since been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing that the serial number had been removed, and possession of a firearm while prohibited from doing so.

Meanwhile, warrants have been issued for three others suspected to be a part of the drug bust.

Twenty-seven-year-old Jay Jazz Faithful, 25-year-old Erica Colbourne, and 28-year-old and Rebecca MacRae are all wanted by the police and face drug-related charges.

Anyone with information is asked to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
