Knight In Shining Armour: Local Football Star Garners Ivy League Attention

A former Holy Trinity football star is making waves south of the border.

On Monday, Luke Foster, a former Knight who starred as a tight end and defensive end, received an NCAA Division-1 offer from the prestigious Yale University.

Kwame Osei, who coached Foster at Holy Trinity, tells Mix News he’s put in the work and it’s starting to pay off.

He feels Foster’s about to have a lot more offers come his way.

“The best is yet to come for him, I know bigger and better things are coming. This is the first of many – remember I said that: the first of many. He’s a kid we’re going to see doing big things in the future so, I’ve got my popcorn ready and I’m excited to see.”

Osei adds Foster, who is listed at 6’4″ and 230 pounds, is one of the most humble and hardest working players he’s had the privilege of coaching.

He calls the former Knight, not only every coach’s dream – but every teacher’s as well.

“He’s the kid you wish every kid could be like. He’s very humble, he’s very hungry, very smart, he soaks everything up and he does as he’s told. He’s detail-oriented, he thinks outside the box. He’s the first person to leave the field and the last person to leave it.”

Foster, joins a bevy of recent talent heading stateside – including former Knight Tola Banjoko (Princeton University) and former Father Mercredi Trapper Lamar Goods (University of Florida).

Osei notes this opportunity could not have happened to a more deserving person and player.

“To actually put it into action and do what he’s doing on a consistent basis is another thing. When you do these things on a consistent basis, doors will open. I always tell everybody: if you are a diamond you will shine – but you have to be put into an environment to shine.”
