Fort McMurray Pays Homage On Remembrance Day

People came out for Remembrance Day ceremonies in droves to pay homage to the many veterans who fought or lost their lives.

Residents attended ceremonies yesterday at MacDonald Island Park and at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 165.

Over a thousand people gathered at Mac Island for the early morning ceremony, while others braved the cold for the Legion’s commemoration.

At the legion’s ceremony, the Canadian flag was lowered to half-mast to honour all those lives.

RCMP, firefighters, EMS, politicians, veterans, and many others were on hand to recognize the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month.

This year also marked 101 years since the end of World War One.
