The President and CEO of the Fort McMurray Airport Authority is taking on a leadership role with a National committee.
RJ Steenstra has been elected as the new Vice-Chair of the Canadian Airports Council Board of Directors.
He is replacing Joyce Carter, the President and CEO of the Halifax International Airport Authority, who’s since been named the Chair.
“It has been an honour and privilege working alongside some of the very best in the airport industry,” said Steenstra, in a release.
“Moving into the Vice Chair role, my focus will be on evolving our governance model and ensure the industry continues to be positioned to tackle emerging issues and opportunities facing airports across Canada, including regional airports such as YMM.”
Before being elected as the Vice-Chair, Steenstra served as the Central Regional Director for the CAC.
He previously served with the American Association of Airport Executives, International Civil Aviation Organization and Airports Council International, and the International Association of Airport Executives Canada.
Steenstra has led the Fort McMurray Airport Authority since September 2016.
