It looks like the Fort McMurray Oil Barons are parting ways with their bench boss.
On Tuesday, the team announced they were parting ways with Head Coach and General Manager Bob Beatty, ending a tenure that lasted just 44 games.
In that time, the Barons have been struggling, accumulating a record of 15-27-2, good for 7th place in the AJHL North Division.
They have also lost four straight games.
“This decision was very difficult and wasn’t made lightly,” Oil Barons President David Fitzgerald said in a statement. “Bob is a great person and quickly stepped up last summer when our organization was in need of a Head Coach and General Manager.”
Fitzgerald notes that moving forward it was felt that a change in direction and voice was needed.
“On behalf of our organization, I want to thank Bob for his commitment and dedication. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” Fitzgerald added.
In the interim, assistant coaches Mike Brodeur and Justin Rose will share the team’s coaching duties.
The search for new a Head Coach and General Manager has already begun.
The team notes an announcement will be made at a later date.
