Construction Nearly Finished on Willow Square Continuing Care Facility

Construction on the Willow Square Continuing Care Facility is getting closer to being finished.

According to Alberta Infrastructure, work is 90 per cent complete and should be done by the spring.

Grounds officially hit the ground back in April 2018 after years of waiting.

The centre, located at the corner of Hospital Street and Franklin Avenue, will have 144 spaces and room to expand as needed.

It’s being designed and operated to provide housing, medical services and programs to seniors and younger individuals living with disabilities.

The $110 million project is reportedly still on budget.

After work is done, the facility will be turned over to Alberta Health Services for operational commissioning.

AHS will choose an opening date after they’ve reviewed the facility to ensure everything works properly.

It’s expected to welcome its first residents by late 2020.
