Some warm and sunny weather is in store for Fort McMurray this weekend.
However, Environment Canada Meteorologist Natalie Hazel says rain is on the way.
“For Fort McMurray (the rain will be) probably closer to Monday morning, and right now, we’re calling for a chance of showers during the day, periods of rain in the evening,” Hazel said. “The heavier stuff should be happening later in the afternoon and into the evening period.”
The rain could stretch into Tuesday, according to Hazel, who says a pattern of long stretches of dry weather is starting to take shape across the province.
“We get a little bit of rain, and then we get long stretches of time when we have nothing,” Hazel said. “So things have a chance to dry out and become difficult again.”
Hazel says the Fort McMurray region received 25.4 millimeters of moisture in April, which compared to the historical average, is actually four millimeters more than normal for the month.
