Police investigate ongoing complaints of dangerous motorcycle driver

FORT MCMURRAY, Alberta — Police are searching for the driver of a motorcycle that nearly struck several pedestrians and vehicles last week. Around midnight on July 21, RCMP received reports of a black motorcycle with no license plate and a loud exhaust being driven recklessly on Franklin Avenue in downtown Fort McMurray. The driver reportedly reached speeds of over 200 kilometers per hour, narrowly avoiding multiple collisions.

Officers attempted to stop the motorcycle, but the driver accelerated and fled, prompting police not to pursue due to the risk to public safety and the driver. The same motorcycle was later seen engaging in high-speed driving and stunting in the Timberlea area, in what police believe was an attempt to provoke law enforcement.

On July 23, around 7 p.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP observed the same black motorcycle on Woodpecker Way. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the rider sped away, nearly hitting a police vehicle during the escape.

The suspect is described as a male riding a black sports model motorcycle without a license plate and wearing a red and black helmet. Pictures of the driver and motorcycle are available on our news page. Wood Buffalo RCMP continue to receive complaints about driving and noise related to this motorcycle and are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the driver.
