Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta Raises $16,700 at Annual Golf Tournament

FORT MCMURRAY, Alberta — Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta celebrated the success of its 30th annual “Golf Fore Girls” tournament on Sept. 1, where more than 100 golfers gathered at the Fort McMurray Golf Club, raising $16,700 for the community organization.

The event, themed “Back to the 80s: Take Positive Neon Risks,” encouraged participants to don bright colours while highlighting the importance of taking positive risks.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to take positive risks for the greater good, thanks to the ongoing and emerging support from our community,” said Nanase Tonda, executive director of Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta. She also expressed appreciation for the positive feedback from participants, which she said underscores the impact of the mission-driven event.

Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta, a nonprofit organization, aims to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Since its founding in 1979, the organization has impacted the lives of 1,157 girls across Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo.
